2024 Seattle Mariners Free PlayBall Event at the Dome Baseball/Softball/Tball
The Seattle Mariners are committed to ensuring all youth have access to baseball and softball regardless of income, race, cultural background, or ability. With the On BASE (Baseball and Softball Everywhere) initiative, the Mariners increase positive health outcomes through baseball and softball by creating access to play, removing barriers, and building a culture of inclusion.
We have received a grant from the Seattle Mariners to host a free MLB Play Ball event at the Alaska Dome on April 29th in partnership with local little league programs. We are choosing to offer this event indoors, in April, as this time offers the opportunity to run an event that engages our entire city, and beyond, before each individual program gets busy with their outdoor schedule, and participants become busy with summer activities. Our goal in providing this opportunity is to broadly direct the benefits and values of the Seattle Mariners through their On Base initiative, while also showcasing indoor baseball and softball facility utilization in Anchorage to promote year round participation for any kid from the ages of 6-14. This event will be in partnership with the Municipality of Anchorage and will offer promotional give away items such as a t-shirts, hats, and wristbands.
Note: It have been requested that we offer child care/toddler time for young kids and food at this event.
To support this camp, we have a grant MLB for the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) to provide free parent and coaches training for anyone interested in participating. We will also be introducing the game of "Quickball" as an introductory modified baseball and softball game to players ages 6-8.
What is Positive Coaching Alliance?
The goal of Positive Coaching Alliance is to keep kids playing so they can learn life skills that translate beyond the field, and to make sport a place for athletes to have fun, make friends, learn to love the game. PCA will be flying a trainer up to Anchorage to provide training for both coaches and parents. https://positivecoach.org/
What is Quickball?
Quickball is literally quick baseball and quick softball. Quickball is a national youth sports program that teaches diamond skills in a fast-paced, sandlot setting! Quickball helps managers and coaches get kids of all skill levels actively involved in a non-stop training sport that rewards hustle and teamwork. https://el1quickball.com/
